Spanish-American War

The political cartoon is on the issue of the Spanish-American War. The cartoonist message is that the Spanish should respect freedom and independence. If not, the cartoon shows it means war to fight for Cuba's independence. Others may feel that the U.S just is doing that because they want more territory. The U.S is mostly protecting Cuba so they can later have it for themselves. The political cartoon uses labeling when it labels Spain and Cuba. The cartoon also uses symbolism; the us ship symbolizes the power of the U.S. This supports my opinion because it is portraying Spain negatively which supports my opinion. I also think the U.S is mostly trying to help Cuba gain it independence because the U.S was once in the same shoes.
