Panama Canal

This political cartoon is about the issue of using Panama as the place where the canal that connects the Atlantic and Pacific should be built. Panama is a colony of Columbia. The cartoonist message is that Roosevelt is a man who actually makes progress. As he talks about it in the carton, he is a man who can make the dirt fly. Another view of the cartoon could be that he is shoveling through Panama and anything that gets in the way of him creating a canal. You can obviously see Roosevelt's size is exaggerated. The cartoonist also add labeling like for the Panama Canal. This cartoon is showing how Roosevelt was a good leader and he is able to get something done. It supports Roosevelt and that in a way means it support imperialism.
